March 23, 2026 — at 12:12 p.m., an email arrives straight from France: «It is with great pleasure that we announce that your show ’AXIS’ has been selected for the Off Selection of the 2026 edition of Chalon dans la Rue, which will take place from July 23 to 26, 2026.»
The festival’s Off Selection relies on the financial and logistical autonomy of the companies. In return, Chalon dans la Rue offers incredible visibility for artists and a valuable opportunity for touring and for bringing performances to life.
AXIS vertical dance duo 15 min Suspended from a façade, two bodies explore the space that connects and separates them. The building becomes an axis — Axis — guiding their movement and their relationship to gravity. Between proximity and distance, their movements shift points of reference and fully reveal their fragility. Within the verticality of the façade, lines and points of support shape the space of a relationship where balance, tension, and encounter create a suspended dramaturgy. #suspension #dance #architecture
Magalie Lanriot and Morgane Stephan are two professional vertical dancers, choreographers, and performers of the show AXIS, selected by the festival from more than 1,000 applications (a record this year, they say!). They have the opportunity to be among the 130 selected artists, to present their work, connect with a professional network, and see their artistic approach flourish with new audiences.
Participating in the festival is very costly, and our company does not have sufficient funds to cover the full amount. At this stage, everyone involved in the project is volunteering, and our main goal is to minimize production and logistical expenses, which we estimate at CHF 6,000 for a team of six people attending the festival.

We are launching a crowdfunding campaign, as our finances do not allow us to cover all the costs of participating in the festival (transport, accommodation, per diems, and administrative/unforeseen expenses), a platform of national and international reach for contemporary forms and the most innovative urban arts.
