This is what it's all about.
In my solo exhibition at Kunstverein Frauenfeld (7.11.–6.12.2026), I explore textiles as media of political confrontation, social struggles, and postcolonial entanglements.
Textiles are far more than carriers of memories and traces of physical labour. They become stages for resistance and transformation, as well as spaces of collective imagination. In them, personal stories intertwine with societal and historical developments.
The exhibition title plays on the dual meaning of the English word «fray»: it denotes both a fight and the fraying of a fabric. This fraying becomes the formal principle of the exhibition and, at the same time, a metaphor for historical ruptures, migration, and feminist struggles. It points to what has come loose, shifted, or been rendered invisible – and to the stories of marginalised people that can thus be made visible.
The exhibition therefore understands textile not as mere material, but as a political and societal fabric: vulnerable and resistant, fragmented and connective.
My project is special because ...
In my artistic work, I combine textiles with sculpture, installation, performance and photography. I’m drawn to stories that often go unnoticed, and the traces left behind by people, labour and memories. Personal experiences intersect with social and historical themes. The catalogue makes my work visible beyond the exhibition.
This is what I need backing for.
My second catalogue builds on the design of my first, continuing its visual style. The crowdfunding support will primarily go towards the design and printing of the new catalogue.
For this project, I’m once again collaborating with regional partners – especially Simone Hörler and the Gremper AG print shop in Basel. Working with experienced local professionals allows me to meet the project’s high design and printing standards while keeping value creation in the region. With your support, the second catalogue can become a reality – from design to the finished, high-quality printed copy.
