Cashews that carry a School...
After the opening of our school in Eluwankulam (Sri Lanka) in 2022, one big question came up: How can we run the school using our own resources while connecting the strengths of Sri Lanka and Switzerland?
The answer was right outside our door: Cashew trees in the same village.
We began buying Cashews from local farmers, processing them ourselves, and bringing them to Switzerland. The potential was immediately clear. So we took the next step: in 2024, we opened our own Cashew Factory in Eluwankulam and started marketing the products through our platform lankashop.ch.

Historical events, political decisions and the decades-long civil war have left deep societal marks in Sri Lanka. Thinking together across cultural and religious boundaries remains a major challenge.
This is exactly where Elukids steps in: We promote an One Sri Lankan Mindset that recognises diversity, puts people at the centre and strengthens shared values. We strive to empower children in Eluwankulam from their first day of school to their first day at work – and support them on their way to an open, self-determined future.
Building the Foundation with you🧱
We plan to invest CHF 15,000 in a generator to bridge the frequent power cuts during our cashew production. This will allow us to maintain continuous operations – and secure vital income for our educational work.
CHF 35,000 are intended for our school and factory operations in Sri Lanka. This ensures jobs and access to education – and gives us six valuable months to strengthen our market presence. Our long-term goal is to build a community membership of people who want to actively contribute to our education and farming project.
