This is what it's all about.

In 1994, a solution was sought to develop the mountain farm in Schwendi. This became necessary because a son in the family was born with an open back and could only attend kindergarten and school with help. Until then, the farm could only be reached via a hiking trail. A road was out of the question due to the topography and so a cable car was chosen. A middle station was built to further develop two houses. What was originally a family and 4 other people became a user group of over 20 people. The cable car therefore became an important development not only for the farming family. After 28 years, major renovation is necessary. However, the financial burden is so high that we can’t get enough from our savings. That’s why we urgently need your help to keep the cable car running. Many thanks for your help!

why you should support this project

Until now, the cable car has always been self-supporting and, apart from the construction, we have never had to rely on financial help. Every previous repair etc. was financed with money saved specifically for this purpose. Now, among other things, due to the adaptation to the EU cable car law, such a number of renovations have become necessary that the money we have earmarked for this is no longer sufficient. Although the cable car is not public, it contributes to long-term access to remote properties and farms and is therefore an important support for the community and the farming culture in the Bernese Oberland. Since this is a development, we have already tried to obtain subsidies from the municipality. Unfortunately, there are not enough permanently inhabited buildings on the affected properties for this «improvement contribution».

This is what we use your donation for

An additional 26,000 euros are needed to renovate the most important and already required measures This primarily includes security-related measures. All of them are absolutely necessary to maintain the operating license.

For the longer-term and previously announced measures, we expect at least 100,000, which will be due in just a few years. This includes, among other things, a new control system, which must be replaced with further measures, such as a power connection in the valley station. This work is not relevant to the operating license or is not yet relevant.
